Ceramic substrates — alumina and aluminum nitride — offer superior thermal conductivity, tighter dimensional stability, and better performance at elevated temperatures, making them the preferred choice for high-power, high-reliability, and hermetically packaged RF assemblies. For defense, satellite, and high-power radar applications where thermal management and long-term reliability under harsh conditions are required, ceramic substrates are typically specified despite higher material and processing costs.
